While developing the machine, we partnered with many established chocolate makers to gain their insight on what is important to them in a refiner, and what they would like to see in which they did not have using their current solution. The consistent feedback themes that were offered were that the users wanted a machine that was simple to use, hassle free, required limited maintenance, and backed by top notch customer service. We strive everyday to meet those expectations.
Simpler is better: Much of our design focused on not over complicating the machinery for users. This is why we built a machine that was plug-and-play ready, and one of the major highlights is an on-unit control panel. This eliminates the need to add an additional wall mounted control panel that requires additional set-up costs and potential complications down the road. The control panel also always for setting accurate variable speed controls. Other features include an easy to use tension control system, casters for easy maneuverability, and requires little technical ability if onsite repairs or adjustments where needed. We designed our machines that nearly all problems can be fixed by someone locally with just a bit of technical ability and standard tools can resolve nearly all issues.
Limited Maintenance: Two major design elements incorporated into the build were a direct-drive system, and a fully sealed gear box. With a direct-drive system, there are no belts or chains that can break or wear down over time. When belts or chains breaks, it can cause significant impacts on a running batch, and requires immediate maintenance and brings a halt production. If the batch is unattended when this happens, it can be completely ruined upon return. They can also wear down over time causing skips or stutters that impact the rate of speed the machine runs which will affect the time and effectiveness of a running batch.
